After graduating from the Art High School of Vicenza in 2004 and being influenced from an early age by the world of comics, illustrated books, cartoons, and everything surrounding this wonderful universe, Ivan Bigarella (Vicenza, 1984) decided in 2005 to attend the Humorous Comics course at the Scuola del Fumetto in Milan to pursue his dream of becoming a comic artist. In 2007, he had his first professional experience in the comic industry, and by 2009 he began working in children's publishing, collaborating with major publishers such as PIEMME, Mondadori, Atlantyca, Battello a Vapore, DeAgostini, Edizioni EL, ELI Editore, Gallucci, and Lavieri. He also worked in advertising with communication studios HASSEL and NOESIS, and in 2018 became a teacher at the Scuola Internazionale di Comics in Padua. After his debut in Topolino in 2020, he began working as a cover artist for the weekly magazine in 2021, contributing to various Disney volumes for Panini Comics and the monthly Paperinik. He illustrated the highly praised series Circus, written by Giovanni Di Gregorio for Topolino.
At the same time, he collaborated with Arancia Studio, which led him to become the cover artist for the DuckTales series published by Dynamite. In 2024, he was awarded the Città di Vicenza Prize for Art and the U Giancu Prize for Best Humorous Illustrator.
The author will be attending Lucca Comics & Games from Wednesday, October 29th to Friday, October 31st.
