
Shintaro Kago (born in Tokyo in 1969) is a Japanese comic artist. Shintaro Kago's style has been described as “Fashionable Paranoia” in the West. He often breaks the fourth wall and loves to play with extreme layouts, leading him to be considered one of the most virtuoso comic artists in the world.
In 2006, he organized the first edition of his personal film convention called “Shit Film Festival” (Unko Eigasai).
In 2014, he designed the vinyl cover and inner sleeves for Flying Lotus' album “You're Dead!”.
At “Lucca Comics & Games” in 2014, he won the prestigious Italian “Gran Guinigi” award.
In 2019, he created the concept art for the Netflix film “In the Tall Grass” (directed by Vincenzo Natali), a film inspired by a story by Stephen King and Joe Hill.
He has published about 50 manga in Japan, and his stories have been translated in several countries around the world, earning him considerable popularity.
His most recent works are published by the international underground publisher Hollow Press.
He is a frequent guest at international comic conventions, where he draws live portraits for fans in his unmistakable grotesque style.
He continues to exhibit his work in art galleries around the world.
