Hōsui Yamazaki (born 1964 in Chiba, Japan) is a manga artist renowned for his horror and supernatural works, blending realistic settings with unsettling visions. After studying film and experimenting with independent animation, he debuted in 1988 in Weekly Young Jump. Over the years, he created short works and serialized stories, establishing himself with a clean, atmospheric style.
His first notable series was Mail (1999-2005), centered on ghost stories and occult investigations. He then gained international recognition as the artist of The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, written by Eiji Ōtsuka, a cult title mixing horror, satire, and mystery.
In the 2000s he also created Developers – Mobile Suit Gundam: Before One Year War. More recently, he returned as a full author with Cacciatori di cadaveri (2021-2024), published in Italy by Hikari Edizioni. The series has drawn strong attention among Italian readers and is today considered his most representative work.
Yamazaki’s style stands out for its clarity of line, atmospheric detail, and his ability to turn horror into a universal storytelling language.
Hōsui Yamazaki will attend Lucca Comics & Games 2025. On this occasion, Hikari Edizioni will present the Colossus Edition of Cacciatori di cadaveri, a complete integral volume released in two versions (regular and variant), both in hardcover format.
